Thank you for your question.
Jesus said, I did not come to do way with the Law and the Prophets (Old Testament) , I came to fulfill them. He also quotes scripture to the Devil when He was tempted in the desert, for example. If you accept Jesus, you must accept the whole Bible. I threw my first Bible in the garbage can. It took 15 years of pain to finally find the greatest thinker of all time. I'm still enjoying meditation on the teachings of Christ.
The Jews have many names for God. For example they use YHWH and Eloahim. There are several others. The Holy Spirit is the love between the Father sand Son. Each is entirely God, but there is but one God. God is a mystery.
Jesus is also the alpha and omega. That is the first and the last of all knowledge. All knowledge branches out, from alpha then is focused by the lens that is Jesus and focused back to omega. Alpha and Omega represent the Greek Philosophy. They stole it from the Egyptians. The Greeks had Plato, Aristotle and Socrates. Rhey were concerned with war, ethics and governance. Jesus was too. Any philosophy dealing with humans has to deal with war between individuals. Jesus said, Turn the other cheek.
Spirit is belief in Jesus being God. Spirit is Truth. Jesus said I am the way (to Heaven), the Truth (logic, the devil is a liar - father of all lies), and the life (eternal life). Jesus said the Spirit and I are one. He was identifying Himself with God. When they asked the question to Jesus, Good teacher, tell us what this means. Jesus answered, Why do you call me good? No one is good but God alone. He identified Himself again as God. It rhetorical. The sacrament of confirmation in the Catholic church is where young Christians affirm their parent desire to have their children as believers and member of the Church. They speak for them selves having reached a mature age. Baptism is where the parents speak for their child generally. It too is a Catholic Sacrament. the are sacraments in total. Protestant churches have less than 7. They are all very important and originate in the the teachings of Jesus. So if you read just His words, accept His Church and Sacraments. Get baptized!Get Confirmed!
Water and Blood flowed out of the stab wound when Jesus was dying on the cross. It is said by Theologians to be the birth of the Church - the only Church of Jesus Christ. (Father I pray they'll be one as I am in you and you are in me, just before He assented to Heaven) Water represents Baptism, and blood represents the Eucharist. Unless you eat the flesh and drink the blood you have no life in you. those who eat my flesh and drink my blood have eternal life and I will raise them up on the last day. For my flesh is real food and my blood is real drink. Jesus also called to the woman at the well that He had living water. Give me this water so I don't have to come back to this well! He was talking about rebirth (not reincarnation) by Baptism - the living water. You are dead in the spiritual world until you are baptized.
I know at Confirmation, may face was hot with the Holy Spirit when I was in grade 6. Never forgot it. I got a good dose of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit in Scripture is symbolized by fire, wind, waterawhisper, and a dove. He's all throughout the Bible which is His handiwork. Jesus knew and read from the scrolls. He read from Isiah in the Synagogue.
The mystery of Catholicism is three persons - one God. Each is who and entire God. In human form, He is Jesus. He is at least the smartest man whom ever lived, without a doubt. Memorize His words and enjoy! He is the great teacher. You'll learn more about how the universe works from the Bible than from a physics textbook.
Not much time left. I say about 30 days, but I've been wrong on timing before.Nostradamus got baptized I presume.
