Imitation gold and silver inflated, 
which after the theft were thrown into the lake, 
at the discovery that all is exhausted and dissipated by the debt. 
All receipts of debts and bonds will be wiped out.

This is stated in the Bible.

Their land is full of silver and gold, Neither is there any end of their treasures.
Their land also is full of idols. They worship the work of their own hands, That which their own fingers have made.
Man is brought low, And mankind is humbled; Therefore don't forgive them. (Isaiah 2:7-10)

They shall cast their silver in the streets, and their gold shall be as an unclean thing; their silver and their gold shall not be able to deliver them in the day of the wrath of Yahweh: they shall not satisfy their souls, neither fill their bowels; because it has been the stumbling block of their iniquity. (Ezekiel 7:19)

Neither their silver nor their gold will be able to deliver them in the day of Yahweh's wrath, but the whole land will be devoured by the fire of his jealousy; for he will make an end, yes, a terrible end, of all those who dwell in the land. (Zephaniah 1:18)

Come now, you rich, weep and howl for your miseries that are coming on you.
Your riches are corrupted and your garments are moth-eaten.
Your gold and your silver are corroded, and their corrosion will be for a testimony against you, and will eat your flesh like fire. You have laid up your treasure in the last days. (James 5:1-3)
